Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce circuit-breaking capacity of a DC circuit breaker for obtaining an economical circuit composition, by dividing the DC circuit breaker so that it becomes a structure to actuate plural times.
CONSTITUTION: A main thyrister of a DC circuit breaker 14 is divided into 3 sections so that it becomes a structure of series connection. At IES coil 4 of Step 1, circuit breaking of current is conducted by motions of the main thyrisbers 50, 51 and 52; for circuit breaking of current at IES coil 5 of Step 2, the circuit breaking function is done by motions of the main thyristers 51 and 52; and current circuit breaking at IES coil 6 of Step 3, the circuit breaking takes place by motion of the main thyrister 52 alone. By repetitive use of a circuit breaker 2 times or 3 times in this fashion, total circuit breaking capacity is reduced.
