Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate automatization of detection work by mounting a magnetic disc having recording materials in the regular position and positions inside and outside it and detecting positional slippage on a basis of amplitude change of the magnetic head output.
CONSTITUTION: A series of recording patterns consisting of recording band 5 recorded in the regular position, recording band 6 recorded distance A off from this recording band 5 to the outside, and recording band 7 recorded distance B off from recording band 5 to the inside is recorded on magnetic head 1. For detection of positional slippage, disc 1 is rotated in the arrow A direction, and a command is given to head positioning mechanism 12 so that magnetic head 2 may be positioned on recording band 5. When read waveforms for recording bands 5, 6 and 7 are denoted as V1, V2 and V3, V1>V2 and V1>V3 are true in case of no positional slippage of head 3. Consequently, V1≥V2 and V1>V3 are ture if positional slippage of head 2 is within tolerance, and it is discriminated whether positioning of head 2 is proper or not according to satisfaction or unsatisfaction of these conditions.
