Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide base film for tape in which transversally tear strength is improved by laying thermoplastic resin sheet having a specific property to a polypropylene sheet and thereafter extending in a specific direction at a specific temperature and extension magnification. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic resin sheet having secondary transition point of 40-130 deg.C and drawing rate of lower than 30% upon tension break at 20C is superposed to a polypropylene sheet. And the superposed sheet is drawn at first in transverse direction and next drawn vertically and transversely at the same time biaxially or vertically at temperature of 120-165 deg.C in such manner that transverse drawing magnification (lambdaT) and vertical extension magnification (lambdam) satisfy a foumula of 4<lambdaT.lambdaM<=56.2<=lambdaM<lambdaT. As thermoplastic resin for stacking on the sheet, polymethyl methacrylate alkyl ester polymer of its copolymer, styrene polymer are used. Transverse drawing magnification to be extended firstly is preferably more than 1.3.
