Abstract

PURPOSE: An air knife coater capable of making excess coating liquid misty, preventing spraying in liquid, and eliminating uneven coating and environmental pollution, having a guide plate by which air current from air knife on or in receiving dish is directed onto the surface of a cloth to be coated.
CONSTITUTION: In an air knife coater used in coating, the guide plate 10 is provided integrally with the receiving dish 6 or 9 or independently along the base material 1, or a mist collector for excess coating liquid contained in air current may be provided in the neighborhood of the guide plate. The air current A from the air knife 5 is introduced to the guide plate 10 and directed from the direction a to the direction c but partly directed to the direction b in the receiving dish 9, whereby it is separated into mist and air. Then, the air is directed to the direction d, while the mist is sent back to the coating liquid supply dish 8 by the pump P. Also, the air current in the direction c is introduced into the mist collector 11 where mist is separated and recovered.
