Abstract

PURPOSE:An odorant for fuel gas that is composed of a norbornene derivative alone as a effective component or a mixture containing the same as the essential component, thus not corroding metals and rubber, not losing the odor because of its chemical stability and readily diffusing in the air. CONSTITUTION:Said odorant for fuel gas contains a norbornene derivative of the formula (a double bond exists at either of one in the positions shown with dotted lines) alone or as one of essential components. For example, a mixture of 50 parts 5-ethylidene-2-norbornene and 50 parts of 5-vinyl-2-norbornene is added at a ratio of 0.04g per 1kg. of RPG.
