Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate the drilling of a water hole and reduce the thrust of a pump, by providing the inside surface of a casing with a recess for the facilitation and by installing a partition plate on the inside surface of the casing in the face of the recess to stop the flow of water swirl.
CONSTITUTION: The inside surface of a part 6 of the casing which faces a pump impeller 1 is provided with the recess 11 for facilitating the drilling of the water hole 10 for supplying a part of water from a rear shroud 3. The partition plate 12 for stopping the flow of water swirling in the direction of rotation of a front shroud 4 is installed on another part 7 of the casing in the face of the recess 1 through the pump impeller 1. As a result, opposite thrusts are decreased by each other. The final thrust is reduced as shown by the curve C. Therefore, the lifetime of bearings is lengthened and their size and weight are reduced.
