Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce vertical blur and to improve the deflection sensitivity, by arranging flat fan shape box type electron lens while providing a slit in the target side of lens for passing electron beam.
CONSTITUTION: Fan shape box type electron lens 9 is assembled with first and second electrodes 12, 13 and constructed of metal. First electrode 12 has 1stW4th faces 15W18 and formed tubular to pas the electron beam. Second electrode 13 has tubular section constituted of 1stW4th faces 19W22 and substantially closable 5th face 24 having slit 23 of such width as pass the electron beam, and located in adjascent with first electrode 12. When making a slit 23 in the target side of lens 9, convex lens effect in the proximity of said slit 23 can be utilized to collect vertically blurred beam onto the target 11 resulting in an indication having reduced vertical blur.
