Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the subject screw capable of efficiently carrying out mixing and kneading operations of the resinous material, wherein jetty-like projections inclined at an angle greater than the helix angle of flights are spirally provided along the outer periphery of the screw shaft being installed between the piches of the flight. CONSTITUTION:Projections 3 are provided around the outer periphery of the screw shaft 1 in the screw groove 4 between pitches of the flight 2, and the inclination angle beta relative to the axis of the shaft 1 is made greater than the helix angle alpha. The height of each jetty-like projection 3 is rendered equivalent to or less than the projection height of the flight 2. Each jetty-like projection 3 is ordinarily provided in the metalling part C to split the flow of the material and complicate the flow condition thereof to turbulently mix the same and further to promote kneading of the material. The quantities of the resin divided into two directions differ from each other by the jetty-like projections 3, while after passing through jetty-like projections 3, a part of the resin counterflows and is mixed, streamlined fluxes are rearranged at positions different from the original arrangement by the rotating force of the screw.
