Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to use a black body furnace as a reference precise one by fixedly arranging a tube of special construction in a special mode within a cylindrical tube.
CONSTITUTION: A second tube 4, which is made of the same material as that of a first tube 3, which is smaller and shorter than the first tube 3 and which has its center portion formed with a wedge-shaped bottomed portion 4a having its radius reduced toward the center, is concentrically fixed through ring-shaped holding members 5 at the both ends in the first tube 3 which is formed into a cylinder having its both ends opened and made of a silicon carbide and which has its outer circumference wound with an exothermic member 6 of kanthal or siliconite. Thus, if the exothermic member 6 is made to generate its heat, the tube 3 is uniformly heated. After that, the tube 4 is heated through the holding member 5 to the same temperature as that of the tube 3 and is further heated to a completely uniform temperature as a whole by the cavity radiation of a space S. Since the center bottomed portion 4a has a wedge shape, the heat is conducted to the center in a sufficient manner, thus providing the ideal black body to attain the desired object.
