Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title composition with high water and corrosion resistance, by the reaction of an alkanolamine with a modified epoxy resin prepared by the reaction between an adjacent epoxy group-carring epoxy resin and a dihydroxypherysulfone.
CONSTITUTION: (A) an epoxy resin having at least an average of on adjacent epoxy group in one molecule, and (B) a dihydroxyphenylsulfare are made to react so that the amount of the phenolic hydroxyl group in the component (B) is less than one equivalent per equivalent of the epoxy group in the component (A). The resulting modified epoxy resin (C) is then subjected to the reaction with an alkanolamine (D), thus giving a curable resin. The objective composition consists mainly of the above curable resin.
