Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish accurate ignition while enabling remote controlling by igniting combustible gas utilizing energy of laser when propagated in the air.
CONSTITUTION: A pipe 12 is provided inside a flare stack 11 to induct waste gas and a flare burner 13 is mounted at the upper end thereof. On the other hand, a laser oscillator 14 is provided at the point separated at a fixed distance from the flare stack. The emission angle of the laser oscillator is so arranged that the laser beam can reach a laser beam receiving plate 15 mounted to the flare burner 13. With such an arrangement, when laser beam of the laser oscillator 14 is irradiated on the laser beam receiving plate 15, the plate attains such a high temperature that ignition and combustion are made on waste gas released into the air from the flare burner 13 through a pipe 12.
