Abstract

PURPOSE: To inspect the weld zone for defect on the spot in the course of pipe fabrication and enable to set the radiation generator and other devices in the specified positions, by providing the radiation generator at the boom end positioned at the side of pipe conveying direction, and providing a fluoroscopic unit to obtain videosignal opposedly thereto.
CONSTITUTION: A pipe prototype is formed while letting off a strip plate 21 spirally, and the plate butt part is welded by weldig machines 22, 23 from inside and outside. A boom 27 is extended in the pipe growth direction from a boom supporting device 26, and an X-ray generator 28 provided at the end thereof is set in the position of weld line 25, and radiates X-rays. Transforming into video signal by a fluoroscopic unit 28 opposedly provided thereto, defect of weld zone 25 is inspected for. At this time, if there is positional deviation between the generator 28 and weld zone 25, a video signal a is fed in the setting circuit of slice level b, and a weld zone position signal c is obtained. By feeding horizontal synchronising signals d1, d2 to the both sides thereof at equal distance, the deviation direction is discriminated, which is processed in an electric circuit, and supplied to motors 29, 32, so that the positional deviation may be corrected.
