Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the mean rate of adsorption and decrease the amount of use of adsorbents by using three adsorption towers, connecting two of these in series to let them perform adsorption action and simultaneously performing regeneration action of the remaining one.
CONSTITUTION: Three adsorption towers A, B, C are used. The adsorption tower B is connected in series to the rear flow side of the adsorption tower A and the raw material gas containing impurities is admitted to the lower part of the adsorption tower A through conduit 1. Further it is admitted to the lower part of the adsorption tower B through conduit 2 to remove impurities. The gas is then exhausted through conduit 3. On the other hand, regenerating gas is admitted through conduit 4 into the adsorption tower C to desorb the impurities from the adsorbents. This gas is then exhausted through conduit 5. Next, the adsorption tower C is connected to the rear flow side of the adsorption tower B and the impurities in the raw material gas are removed, during which time the regeneration of the adsorption tower A is accomplished. Next, the adsorption tower A is connected to the rear side of the adsorption tower C and adsorption action is effected, at the same instant of which the regeneration action of the adsorption tower B is effected, thus the abovementioned operations are subsequently repeated.
