Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover the captioned waste gas inexpensively and prevent atmospheric pollution by letting the organic solvent evaporation gas of more than about 0°C in freezing point be absorbed in the absorbing solution added with a freezing-point depressant and recovering evaporation gas from part of the absorbing solution with a vacuum evaporator.
CONSTITUTION: The mixed flow 1 of the organic solvent waste gas having freezing point been above about 0°C such as of benzene, acetic acid and other and air is admitted to the bottom part of an absorption tower 3. The absorbing solution beforehand added with a freezing point depressant such as dioctyl phthalate or other (the depressant is added at 50W20wt% based on the weight of the absorbing solution) is supplied from the top of said tower by way of a pump 6 and cooler 9. The air is exhausted through an exhaust pipe 5 and part of the circulating waste-gas absorbing solution is led to a vacuum evaporator 11 through a valve 10. A vacuum pump 12 is operated to evaporate and recover only the absorbed waste gas. The absorbing solution is joined through a pump 14 to the absorbing solution being discharged from the absorption tower 3. This method does not require costly chemicals as with conventional methods, makes regeneration easy and is effective for recovering of the waste gas in a tank lorry at the time of loading organic solvents into the tank lorry, etc.
