Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatically detect the optimum recording bias by sweeping the recording bias through the recording level set to a given level.
CONSTITUTION: After setting the recording bias to the standard level, the recording bias is sequentially changed between the upper and lower limits to sweep and the end signal is produced at the end. Further, the reproducing level corresponding to each of the recording bias is stored in the RAM 21. Further, in response to the end signal, the computer 20 performs discrimination and operational processing by using the reproducting signal level stored to detect the maximum value M. Further, the number of times in which the reproducing signal level is equal to the value M is detected and if the number of times is more than a given number, e.g., 3, the discrimination signal is produced. Next, in response to this discrimination signal, the recording bias corresponding to the first reproducing signal among the number of times of production, is taken as the optimum recording bias. Thus, the optimum bias can automatically be detected.
