Abstract

PURPOSE: To form the device which displays color moving images by periodically disposing plural kinds of cholesteric liquid crystal layers of different coloring temperatures in pattern form and periodically on the face-form electric heating element of variable temperatures.
CONSTITUTION: Microcapsuled cholesteric liquid crystal layers (LC layers) 2a, 2b, 2c which respectively have coloring temperature ranges of, e.g., t1Wt2°C, t3Wt4°C, t5Wt6°C are arrayed and disposed with repetition in this order from the left to right on a face-form electric heating element 1 which permits arbitrary setting of the temperature of its display face 1a with a controller 4. A black color material layer (light absorbing layer) is provided under the LC layers. If it is assumed that t1W t6 be higher in temperature in this order and that the temperature of the display face 1a of the heating element 1 be T, and when the temperature T is gradually raised with the controller 4, then the LC layers form color upon reaching of T at the coloring temperature range of the LC layers and therefore the coloring portions move in the order of 2a→2b→2c, thus the color patterns appear to move from the left to right.
