Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to carry out continuously multi-layer welding of a joint where a base pipe and branch pipe cross each other, by uniforming the groove angle of the branch pipe over the entire circumference of it.
CONSTITUTION: Groove angle α(θ) is expressed by a function of (θ) since height H of a normal between intersection A between the groove face and branch-pipe outer circumference is constant at an angle 0W360° around θ axis 4. Namely, α(θ), being denoted by α0 with θ=0°, can be expressed formula 1. The groove-face shape like this makes continuous welding of welding part 3 possible. For the purpose, the welding part encircled by a cylinder of (D0+2ΔZ) in outer diameter with the same center as base tube 1 is divided by a group of cylinders which have the same center as branch pipe 2 and increase in radius by ΔR for the 1st-step welding. Next, divided S1 is filled with weld beads for one circumference and S2 and S3 are also filled with single-circumference beads, thereby ending the 1st step. Here, ΔR denoting an overlap of weld beads and ΔZ denoting height of a single-layer weld bead are both determined in an experiment. Then, stacking is continued in 2nd and 3rd steps until a N step. Here, N is equal to H/ΔZ (raising to unit fractions not lower than zero).
