Abstract

PURPOSE: To convert a picture signal in a real time corresponding to a scanning time by regarding a picture as a binary lattice-shaped region and then by displaying it hierarchically by sequentially dividing the picture at opsitions of black picture elements.
CONSTITUTION: A picture region of (nL) and (mL) in the numbers of picture elements is divided into the (n×m)-number blocks, which are further divided hierarchically in sequence into blocks including black picture elements, so that it can be displayed with coordinates XL-1YL-1,...X1Y1, X0Y0. To convert this, input picture signal (a) is inputted to horizontal-vertical synchronizing signal extraction circuit A to generate horizontal synchronizing signal (c) and picture-element synchronizing signal (d), and counter C generates picture element coordinates. On the other hand, black picture element coordinates stored in buffer register E are led to accumulator F by black picture element detection circuit B and then converted into a series type before being outputted. In this way, the conversion of the picture singal can be performed in real-time operation equivalent to a scanning speed.
