Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the corrosion of a metal immersed in water, and scale formation by applying the metal with an aq. soln. of a mixt. of metacrylol acrylsulfonic acid, a lignin cpd., and a tannin cpd. CONSTITUTION:Ten parts by wt. metacrylol acrylsulfonic acid shown by formula [I] or metacrylamide sulfonic acid and 1-1,000 parts by wt. sulfite waste liquor contg. principally sodium lignin sulfonate as a lignin cpd., and a tannin cpd. such as tannin quebracho or tannin wattle are dissolved in water. Or 1-1,000 parts Zn or Mn salt of dithiocarbamic acids, e.g., ethylene bis(dithiocarbamic acid) is added to water together with a total of 100 parts of the chemicals described above. Or 1-100 parts polyphosphate, e.g., pyrophosphate is added to a total of 100 parts of the chemicals described above. Or 1-15 parts of phosphonocarboxylic acid is added to the total of the chemicals described above.
