Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the rottening of sludge owing to the withdrawal of unconcentrated sludge and the excessively long detention time of sludge, by operating the amount of sludge depending on the signal produced from the interface detector for detecting the sludge level of the thickener, and by arithmetically controlling the time and the period of sludge withdrawal depending on above operated data for the amount of sludge.
CONSTITUTION: The signal produced from the sludge-water interface detector 7 for detecting the level of concentrated sludge of the thickener 1 is inputted to the arithmetic control unit 8. The unit 8 multiplies the inoutted sludge level by the inner diameter of the thickener 1 resulting in the amount of concentrated sludge. This result of operation is inputted to the withdrawal valve 4 and pump 5 as the command signal. When the specified amount of concentrated sludge is obtained through the operation, the sludge is gathered by the sludge rake 2 and is collected into the sludge pool 3, and then is withdrawn. Accordingly, in above case, it is desirable that the time of pause t2 of the sludge withdrawal is longer than the period t2' of rotation of the sludge rake 2.
