Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a filter showing a high degree of dust collection efficiency and less blockage of meshes by forming a laminate consisting of a lot of high melting fiber webs and low melting fiber webs and then heat-treating the laminate at a melting temperature of the low melting fiber webs. CONSTITUTION:A lot of low melting fiber webs such as polyethylene, polypropylene, etc. and a lot of high melting fiber webs such as polyethylene terephthalate, cotton consisting of mono-filaments having an average diameter of 1-100mu are laminated each other in such a manner that the surface of the laminate is formed by the low melting fiber web. The laminate is treated by heat-press at a temperature within the range of the melting point of the low melting webs to a temperature which is 50 degrees lower than the melting point, and then the laminate is heat- treated at a temperature at which the low melting fiber webs can be fused to produce a filter showing a pressure loss of 1-200mmAg at velocity of the wind of 20cm/sec. The filter is useful for vacuum cleaners, the meshes are difficult to block, and the filter shows a high degree of dust collection efficiency.
