Abstract

PURPOSE: In slope face protection by afforesting, to improve the germination rate in the dry season and the growning speed after the germination by spraying onto the soil surface a mixed composition containing a hydrogel of a water absorbing power of 50W1500 times (by weight) as an essential ingredient.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution containing a polyvinyl alcohol resin is prepared; then, a hydrogel material and seeds are admixed to the solution under agitation, together with such additives as fertilizers, filler, and thickener dispersed in or diluted with water; and finally, a water-insoluble polyisocyanate is admixed to the mixture, and the mixture is stirred sufficiently to form a mixed composition. With the composition sprayed onto the soil surface formed artifically, the hydrogel exhibits its water absorbing property and water retaining property, so as to improve the germination rate in the dry season and the growing speed after the germination.
