Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a polarizing mirror to serve as a slight-vibrating mirror by controlling the deflection of the polarizing mirror by the sum of a phase detection signal, corresponding to a shift in track of reproduced detection light through the polarization mirror, and the oscillation output of an oscillator.
CONSTITUTION: Reproduced light from recording carrier 12 through polarizing mirror 7 is detected by photo detector 16. The detection output of this detector 16 is detected envelope detector 18 and applied to phase detector 20 applied with a reference oscillation signal outputted by oscillator 19 to obtain a deflection control signal for mirror 7 by passing a phase shift output corresponding to the track shift through LPF 22, and the control signal is added to the reference oscillation output of oscillator 19 added to adder 28 to servo-control mirror 7, thereby optically tracking carrier 12. In this constitution, the tracking control deflecting mirror serves as a slight-vibrating mirror and the constitution of an optical information reproducing unit is simplified, so that high-precision reproduction can be attained.
