Abstract

PURPOSE: As refrigerator absorbent, porous carrier is used to carry absorbent, whereby the absorbent can be effectively used in both cycles of absorption and regeneration and the absorption speed of absorbent cooling medium vapor is increased.
CONSTITUTION: Porous carrier such as alumina, silica, etc. with porosity of 0.25 or greater is used to carry absorbent consisting of an alkali halogenide such as lithium chloride or a halogenide of alkali earth metals. As an absorption type refrigerator, a box 1 is provided with fixed absorbent 2, a box 4 with absorbent cooling medium 5, pipe 3 with cooling water, and pipe 6 with fluid to be cooled, respectively. When both cooling water and fluid start flowing, the vapor of the absorbent cooling medium 5 is caused to move from the box 4 to the box 1 and is absorbed by the fixed absorbent 2. The vapor evaporation cools the cooling medium 5, which in turn cools the fluid in the pipe 6. For regeneration, warm water is passed through the pipe 3 and cold water through the pipe 6. Thus, the cycle of absorption and regeneration provides a simple and quick means for cooling.
