Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure high efficiency and high gain of a tube as well as to achieve remarkable reduction of the total length of the tube, with appropriate arrangement of basic wave cavity together with higher harmonics cavity.
CONSTITUTION: This unit is composed of electron gun 11 generating electron beams, mutual action area 12 converting this D.C. energy into higher harmonic energy, and collector 13 collecting electron beams after completion of their mission. Mutual action area 12 is built up with input cavity 21 in which higher harmonic power is introduced, pre-positioned intervening cavity 22 in the immediate lower course of the electron beam, cavity 25 from which higher harmonic power is taken out, final intervening cavity 24 in the immediate upper stream of the preceding cavity and also 2nd higher harmonic cavity 23 in the middle position. 2nd higher harmonic cavity 23 is nearly synchronized with 2nd figher harmonic frequency corresponding to the central operational frequency of klystron, and other cavities are nearly synchronized with the central operational frequency. Through the above contrivance, it is possible to secure high frequency and high gain of a tube as well as to achieve remarkable reduction of the total length of the tube.
