Abstract
PURPOSE: To make trimming work unnecessary, in forming the front glass plate of a fluorescent display tube, by setting a fin absorbing recess at the part of a jig corresponding to the peripheral part of a glass plate to minimize the length of a fin protruded.
CONSTITUTION: Depth B of recess 11A of lower jig 11 is shallowed to 40W60% of the thickness of glass plate 10, and fin absorbing recess 12A of depth D (50W 20% of the glass thickness) is set at the part of upper jig 12 contacting to the periphery of plate 10. Recess 12A is protruded to the jig edge side by a very short length such as about 0.2mm compared to recess 11A. That is, distance C between recess 12A and the edge of jig 12 is made slightly shorter than distance A between recess 11A and the edge of jig 11. Thus, the vol. of a fin formed does not change, yet the thickness of fine 10A is increased to that about corresponding to the depth of recess 12A. Accordingly, the length of fin 10A protruded becomes almost negligible.
