Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep safety of water level of intermediate pond and to increase the operating effeiciency, by making equal for the number of sets of running of the both generating stations even if upper or lower side generating station is in failure at running and keeping the running of the normal station within the permissible range of the intermediate pond.
CONSTITUTION: In the two step type pump up plant, at the intermediate water way between the upper reservoir 1 and the lower reservoir 2, a small capacity of intermediate pond 3 is provided, and independent generating stations 5 and 6 are respectively placed at the upper and lower side, which run with the same amount of water volume. The both generating stations are provided with a plurality of water trubine (pump) generators (motors) and each has the fault detector. Further, at the intermediate pond 3, the water level detector is provided, and the stop control unit which performing the stop control for the motor generator depending on the output of the detector, is provided. Further, if the motor generator of one station is in failure, the opposing motor generator is stopped depending on the number of failure to balance the number of operating sets.
