Abstract

PURPOSE: A compact perfusion device for organs, designed to control the perfusion fluid easily, compresing organ chambers, a fluid flow measuring chamber, an artificial lung, a fluid reservoir, and a heat exchanger in a cassette.
CONSTITUTION: After sterilizing and washing parts, all the units, e.g. the rotary pump 21 and controlers, are operated. The perfusion fluid is fed from the pump 21, through the pH measuring cell 18, glass electrode 31 and deaerating chamber 19, to the organs 20 and 20 and fluid flow measuring chambers 13, and artificial lung 17, and fluid reservoir 15. The fluid is then returned to the pump 21 via the filter. The respective units are automatically controlled by the commonds based on the pH measurement of the electrode 31, pressure monitor 35, and temperature sensor 36.
USE: Useful for implantation of organs, e.g. kidneys and livers.
