Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a transmission belt economically, by forming a cylindrical body, cutting it into a ring, with one side wider than the other so as to form a trapezoidal cross section, in such a manner that both edges of the wider side are overlapped, and thereby reducing losses.
CONSTITUTION: Cylindrical body 1 is made of natural rubber, synthetic rubber, or synthetic resin. This is cut into a ring in such a manner that its cross section forms a trapezoid. Both edges 2A, 2A of the broader side are overlapped when it is cut. Transmission belt 4 formed in this way is hexagonal, with both edges 2A, 2A of the broader side cut diagonally. But the cut parts have nothing to do with the transmission efficiency. By this, the shaded portion between 2B, 2B, which becomes totally wasteful, can be greatly reduced.
