CONSTITUTION:In the transmission network having the frame synchronizing signal F, the monitor station 1 inserts the code pattern STP corresponding to the stations 2-1 to 2-4 to the fixed area of the frame at the pattern insertion circuit 26 and it is delivered to the transmission circuit 25. At each station, the code pattern received and the code pattern corresponding to the station read out from the memory circuit 33 are compared, and if the code pattern corresponding to the station of itself is received, the monitor station returning the said code pattern after code conversion at the code conversion circuit 35, converts the said code pattern again, and compares it with the code pattern corresponding to the station memorized in the memory circuit 22. If not in agreement, this code pattern is informed to the control section 21 to detect the failure of the station corresponding to this code pattern.
