Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain electrolytic nickel containing sulfur which is excellent in uniformity of sulfur distribution and useful as anode for nickel plating, by using crude nickel as the anode, and electrolyzing by specifying the contents of Fe, Co, and sodium thiosulfate and pH of the anolyte.
CONSTITUTION: When producing electrolytic nickel containing sulfur by electrolyzing and refining with crude nickel or nickel mat as the anode, the anolyte flowing out from the electrolytic bath is filtered, and the content of solid matter such as Fe and Co is controlled below 0.01g/l, and the sum of Fe (III) and Co (III) ions is limited to be less than 0.1g/l by chlorine gas treatment or the like. This electrolytic solution is passed through an active carbon layer to reduce the chlorine content below 2 ppm. Then, the content of sodium thiousulfate is adjusted to be within 0.003 to 0.01g/l, and pH in the cathode box within 2.6 to 3.2. By supplying the solution at the flow rate of 20 to 100 cm/sec from the solution feed pipe above the cathode box to the terminal end of the pipe and the solution quantity of 100 to 400ml/A.H, the crude nickel is electrolyzed to obtain electrolytic nickel containing sulfur by 50 to 250 ppm.
