PURPOSE:To prevent active substance from dropping during fabrication of a battery by filling pellet active substance in a cap type metallic ring, placing it on the inner bottom surface of a case, and pressure forming it to incline radially inwardly in a ring vertical portion. CONSTITUTION:Pellet active substance 13 is contained in a metal ring 12 of cap type stainless steel, silver or iron, or the like having a vertical portion 18, and placed on the inner bottom of a case 11. It is then inclined radially inwardly so that the inclined angle theta of the vertical portion 18 is within 5 deg. via a mold to pressure form it so that the outer diameter of the metal ring 12 is slightly larger than the inner diameter of the case 12. Thus, it prevents active substance 13 from dropping during fabrication of a battery. In addition, an oblique angle eliminates the damage of a separator due to the edge of the ring 12.
