Abstract

PURPOSE: The life-time of an inkribbon cartridge is extended by equipping a printing device using an inkribbon cartridge with an automatic changeover mechanism changeover-controlling automatically a printing part of an inking ribbon according to turning of the inkribbon.
CONSTITUTION: A ring type inkribbon 2 is stored in the folded condition in a inkribbon cartridge 1, and when a printing operation of one letter is finished, a motor for winding up a ribbon is rotated, then a pinch roller 4 is rotated in direction of the arrows and the ribbon 2 is moved by one letter. The printing operation is advanced and a sensing tape 7 combined with a terminal of the inkribbon 2 is moved between a terminal detector 5, then a detecting signal is sent, a ribbon changeover magnet 12 is excited, a plunger 13 is pushed up, the rear part of a cartridge 1 is pushed up, the cartridge 1 is rotated arround a shaft 14 to the fixed amount. As the result, an inking part is pushed down, the ribbon 2 is changed from using the lower part of it to using the upper part of it.
