Abstract
PURPOSE:To miniaturize the shape of the connector by bisecting the spacing in the cylindrical connector housing which couples optical fibers for communication and packing transparent soft material in one of the spaces. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical connector housing 4 by which an incident optical fibers 1 and exit optical fibers 2, 3 are coupled is partitioned by the plate 7 of optical glass or half mirror, and resilient material of the same refractive index (mu=1.45) as that of the optical fibers is packed in one of the spaces. Material of good light transmittance characteristic such as silicone base resin or soft glass is used for the abovementioned material 6. The plate having the same refractive index as that of the material 6 is used for the plate 7. In this way, the connector is simple in construction and is of about the size of the fibers, hence this is extremely effective for miniaturization of optical parts.
