Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:2,4-Bishomobrendane-7-one of formula I.
USE: Perfume or ingredient of perfume composition, which has aroma of green leave with comphor tone, or synthetic intermediate of drugs as antiviral agent.
PREPARATION: A novel compound, 7-methylene-cis-decalin-2-one ethylene ketal of formula II is subjected to hydroboration to form endo-7-hydroxymethyl-cis- decalin-2-on ethylene ketal, which is mesylated to give endo-7-mesyloxymethyl-cis- decalin-2-one ethylene ketal of formula IV. The ketal of the product is hydrolyzed to form endo-7-mesyloxymethyl-cis-decalin-2-one, which is treated with sodium hydride to give the objective compound of formula I.
