Abstract

PURPOSE: To readily increase the heat raiating area and cooling efficiency and to reduce the size by forming fins to be provided around a stator frame by cast steel.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of fins 32 that are provided around a stator frame 31 is made of steel plate whose melting point is higer than that of metal materials much as cast iron and the like and which forms the stator frame 31. The fin 32 is formed together with the frame 31 as one body when they are cast. In order to give secure engagement with the frame 31, an L-shape bent portion 33 is formed and embeded in the frame 31 at the time of casting. In this method, the thickness, height, and number of fins can be properly selected as necessary without limitation imposed by casting, thereby the heat-radiating area of the stator frame can be readily increased, the cooling efficiency can be increased, and the size can be reduced.
