Abstract

PURPOSE: To amend a scratch on a surface in a short period of time by a method wherein a windshield glass is closely contacted with and secured to a jig having a special sealing mechanism and the surface thereof is cut with a surface cutting tool.
CONSTITUTION: A vacuum chuck 5 for closely contacting and securing a windshield glass is provided with a groove 10 for mounting an O-ring for sealing at a portion corresponding somewhat inner side of an outer periphery of the windshield glass and grooves having proper spaces are provided within a loop closed by the O-ring longitudinally and transversally, further, one to a plurality of holes 11 to introduce vacuum are provided at one or a plurality of positions within the grooves. The windshield glass 6 is closely contacted with and secured to such vacuum chuck 5 and a tool 4 such as a diamond tool or the like is pushed thereon while rotating the tool by a cutting machine 3, on the other hand, the vacuum chuck 5 is fed automatically for the cutting on a table, thereby, the upper surface of the windshield glass 6 is cut.
