Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate taking in and out of cargo and prevent the increase in the weight of a hull by a method wherein pillars are pivotally fitted in a freely rectable manner on the decks of a ship of roll on/off type which has plural layer of decks with small height between decks.
CONSTITUTION: In a freighter, such as, for instance, the one of roll on/off type, which has plural layer of decks 1 with relatively-small height between decks and transports goods of relatively-heavy weight, pillars 6 are arranged in a layable manner on each of the decks 2. On taking in and out cargo, the pillars 6 are reclined on the decks 2 to facilitate the cargo work. In addition, since the distance between support points of spars of each of the decks 2 can be reduced, the size of spars can be reduced and thus the weight of a hull as a whole can also be reduced.
