Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the rate of operation of an NC lathe by mounting and dismounting on and from a tool presetter a unit having a plurality of tools fixedly set therein.
CONSTITUTION: A tool holder 8 is provided with a projection 13 at a front lower corner portion thereof. When the tool holder 8 is mounted on a tool base 6, the projection 13 is brought into engagement at its inner surface 13A with a front end surface 6A thereof to position the tool holder 8. The tool base 6 is also provided with a projection 14 at a front lower corner portion thereof, and an inner surface 14A of the projection 14 is extended at right angles to an end surface 14B of the tool base 6. The surfaces 14A, 14B constitute reference surfaces 15A, 15B corresponding to two reference surfaces 5A, 5B of a tool presetter 2. The above structure as a whole forms a unit 16, which is mounted on the tool presetter 2 from a carrier 20 and dismounted from the former to be returned to the latter by a crane 21 connected to a support post 22. Accordingly, the rate of operation of an NC lathe can be increased.
