Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to detect scoured conditions, by driving in a hollow stake-form material, which incorporates a flow pressure sensing plate, a pressure sensing part, and a window where running water passes, onto the river bed of the bridge leg and by detecting change of water pressure generated in the flow pressure sensing plate for flood.
CONSTITUTION: Window 15, flow pressure sensing plate 16, and pressure sensing part 12 are provided in the lower part of stake-form material 8. Sand is injected to this stake-form material 8, and material 8 is driven in to the river bed of bridge leg 1 so that scouring limit line 13 may agree with river bed surface 6 for flood. Gaps where the water stream can pass in both sides of sensing plate 16 are provided. Therefore, when window 15 is exposed to water due to washing for flood, running water pressure Pa or Pb is applied to sensing plate 16 due to eddy stream dependent upon running water 18. This pressure is converted to change of a voltage by pressure sensing part 12 and a signal is obtained by a prescribed circuit. When bipolar signals exceed a fixed level value together, alarm is issued, so that scoured conditions can be detected. After the flood, the sensor is buried in earth and sand again, and special maintenance is not required.
