Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent low-temperature cracking and SR cracking by rapidly heating and cooling the HAZ having hardened and coarsened at the welding of the 1st layer to the Ac1WAc3 transformation points of steel thereby softening and fining the same.
CONSTITUTION: In the multielectrode welding using a consumable electrode and non-consumable electrode, the welding is done by applying the temperature at which the temperatures of the whole or part of the coarse-grained areas of the heat-affected zone become Ac1 (about 750PC)WAc3 (about 850°C) by the succeeding 2nd consumable electrode when the temperature of the coarse-grain hardened area of the heat affected zone formed by the build-up welding of the preceding electrode reaches the Ms point (about 34°C) of steel or less, and this causes the fining of crystal grains. If the heat-affected zone is heated by the 3rd non-consumable electrode so that the temperature of the said zone becomes 750W800°C and the welding is done, the softening and considerable fining are achieved.
