Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A cyclopentanecarboxylic acid derivative shown by the formula I (R1 and R2 are H or lowe alkyl; R3 is H, lowe alkanoyl, or benzoyl) or its salt.
EXAMPLE: 2-(2'-Methyl-3'-mercapto-propanoyl)-cyclopentanecarboxylic acid.
USE: A remedy or diagnositc drug for angiotensin related hypertension. The derivatives has inhibiting action on angiotensin I converting enzyme.
PROCESS: A compound shown by the formula II and one shown by the formula III are subjected to addition reaction in the presence of a base, e.g., butyl lithium to give a novel compound shown by the formula IV. This compound shown by the formula IV is hydrolyzed in the presence of an acid catalyst, and subjected to aminomethylation with formaldehyde and an amino, e.g., dimethylamine to give a novel cyclopentane derivative. This derivative is deaminated by heat, a sulfur compound shown by the formula R3SH is added to the derivative to give a compound shown by the formula I.
