Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase mechanical strength and to enhance corrosion resistance, by forming a discharge electrode from a thin-film corrosion-resistant amorphous alloy.
CONSTITUTION: A thin-film amorphous alloy is essentially composed of Ni-Cr-Mo and preferably contains about 20wt% in total of Si, B, P, and C as nonmetal. Other main compositions may be Fe-Ni-Cr-Mo-(Si, B, P, C), Fe-Cr-Ni-(Si, B, P, C), Fe- Cr-Mo-(Si, B, P, C), Fe-Cr-(Si, B, P, C), or Ni-Cu-(Si, B, P, C). To apply the thin- layer amorphous alloy to a discharge electrode, it is preferable that the plurality of them are braided to increase strength. This method makes the edge surface to have more acute angle and thus facilitates corona discharge.
