Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title compound, useful as the base oil of an oxidation- resistance lubricant, esp. of an air compressor oil, from a neopentylpolyol and a aliphatic acid mixture containing two kinds of specific aliphatic acids at a specific ratio.
CONSTITUTION: Esterification or ester exchange of a neopentylpolyol and a mixture of two kinds of aliphatic acids of (a) and (b) at a ratio of 99:1W91:9 gives a neopentylpolyol ester, wherein (a) is 3,5,5-trimethylhexanoic acid and (b) is 2W24C, esp. 6W14C straight chain saturated aliphatic acid, e.g. acetic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid, valeric acid etc. The neopenytylpolyol is, e.g. neopentylglycol, trimethylolethane, etc.
