Abstract

PURPOSE:To expand the allowable range of a difference between transmission and reception frequencies and also to make automatic frequency control possible by amplitude-modulating the 1st subcarrier by the amplitude level of an audio signal and by frequency-modulating the 2nd subcarrier by the amplitude-modulated signal. CONSTITUTION:An audio signal is applied to rectifying circuit 1 to output amplitude information, which allows amplitude-modulating circuit 4 to amplitude- modulate a signal of the 1st subcarrier frequency fs1 and the output of circuit 4 is converted by frequency converting circuit 5 into the 2nd subcarrier frequency fs2. The audio signal is also supplied to compressing circuit 2, which compresses it according to the output of rectifying circuit 1 of circuit 2 to output frequency information and it is supplied to a radio transmission part being mixed with the output of frequency converting circuit 5. In a receiver, a frequency information component and amplitude information component are extracted from a SSB detection output and an amplitude-modulated signal, the output of FM detecting circuit 12, is detected by AM detecting circuit 13 to obtain amplitude information, so that expanding circuit 17 will reproduce the original audio signal.
