Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain accurate and clear marks by an apparatus which comprises a transfer mechanism for intermittently transferring works being set in series, a print mechanism for printing marks on the surface of each work, a positioning mechanism and a detection mechanism for detecting the operation of the positioning mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A lead frame 13 carrying a plurality of resin mold type semiconductor devices 1 as works with a space therebetween is stretched between two guides 18 and moved intermittently by means of a transfer pin 24. On the guide 18 at the supply side of the frame 13, there is disposed a wiping up mechanism 25 comprising an endless tape 26 soaked with trichloroethylene 31, a wiping up head 29 and others in order to clear the surface of each device 1. A marking mechanism 5 including a transcribing drum 6 is provided at rear side of the transfer pin 24 and paired positioning mechanisms 33 are disposed at the position facing the marking mechanism 5 with the frame 13 inbetween. Marking process is carried out by synchronizing the device 1 and the transcribing drum 6. In addition, each positioning mechanism 33 is provided with a detection mechanism 34 and thw whole system is stopped in the event imperfect condition is detected.
