Abstract

PURPOSE: The title granule, capable of floating an active contituent of an chemical on the surface of water, and producing the desired effect, prepared by forming a shell of small specific gravity, wherein the active constituent of an agricultural chemical is dispersed in a waxy material, on a granule core covered with a specific thin layer so that the shell may fall off in contact with water.

CONSTITUTION: A water soluble or water-dispersible granule core, e.g. ammonium sulfate or clay, or a water-nondispersible core, covered with a water-soluble or dispersible thin layer, is unevenly coated with a shell having a specific gravity ≤1, wherein 0.5W2pts.wt. of an active constituent of an agricultural chemical, e.g. a herbicide Chlomethoxynil or an insecticide Diazinon, is dispersed in 1pt.wt. of a waxy material, e.g. paraffin, Japan wax or beef tallow, so that the shell may fall off in contact with water. The resulting granule is cooled to give the title product, which is applied to a place where water is present for protecting useful plants or animals, e.g. a paddy field, or a place where harmful insects grow in water, e.g. a waterway.
