Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the stains of transfer roller and the damages of an electrostatic latent image forming medium by providing a gap of about the thickness of recording paper between the surface of the electrostatic latent image forming medium and transfer roller in a roller bias transfer method.
CONSTITUTION: Tracing rollers 141, 142 are provided integrally with the transfer roller 7 which is applied with transfer potentials in synchronization with the arrival of recording paper. The radii of these tracing rollers are made larger by about the thickness of recording paper 18 than the radius of the transfer roller 7. As a result of this, a gap corresponding to the thickness of the recording paper 18 is formed between the surfaces of the photosensitive layer 1c and transfer roller 7. Since the transfer roller 7 does not make contact with the photosensitive layer 1c, it may be made of metals.
