Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the lightweight design and durability of a pneumatic tire by employing for a carcass thereof a rubbered cord ply which consists of cords each consisting of twisted nylon or polyester filaments and having a predetermined strength and a rubber that has a predetermined modulus at its 100% elongation.
CONSTITUTION: A rubbered cord ply is employed for a carcass of a tire which ply consists of tire cords of tenacity of 40W95kg/cord each consisting of a number of bundled, twisted nylon or polyester filaments and ply coating rubber having a modulus of 40W80kg/cm2 at its 100% elongation and having a plurality of the tire cords inserted therein. Such a constitution would thus improve the durability of a tire and, if applied to a tire for a truck or a bus, could reduce 10W20% of its weight.
