Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a lithographic plate easy to work by forming a lipophilic image portion and a hydrophilic non-image portion on the surface of a support having many pores made through it from the surface to the backside and by supplying dampening water from the backside. CONSTITUTION:Many pores 16 (18) are made between surface 12 and backside 14 of support 10, and lipophilic image 20 is formed to obtain a lithographic plate. Dampening water supplied from backside 14 flows toward surface 12 through pores 16 (18) like arrows 30, and it reaches surface 12 through pores 16 to dampen surface 12 in the non-image portion. On the other hand, since the tips of pores 18 are stopped up with image 20 in the image portion, permeation of the water is prevented. Accordingly, by uniformly distributing pores 16 (18) all over the support dampening water is automatically supplied in proportion to the non-image portion, and clear printing can be accomplished while preventing ink supplied to surface 12 from adhering to the non-image portion.
